Evolving Basics
An exhibit that moves people to move art.
Welcome to the Art Churn at the Brooklyn Lyceum.
With the Art Churn the Brooklyn Lyceum strives to showcase vibrant artwork at the Brooklyn Lyceum or the Brooklyn Lyceum Guest House for sale at a reasonable price. Whether local Brooklyn art or art from around the world, we want the good stuff.
There are nine (9) rooms/space to display the artwork. There are an estimated 200 display positions ranging in size from 9"x9" to 15'x18'. We can display painting, sculpture, interactive pieces, etc. Artwork will be displayed an estimated minimum of four (4) months. We expect to change over 1/12th of the number of art pieces each month. Thus each year should be a nearly new exhibit. There are some groundrules.
Artist Groundrules:
- Once accepted and displayed artist gives The Brooklyn Lyceum sole right to sell the piece. There will be a contract that need to be signed by the artist.
- Artist will price all art at $500 or less.
- Sales split will be 75%(Brooklyn Lyceum)/25%(artist). Why this split?
- Arist can revoke the display and sale of art with 120 days notice.
- Lyceum can give 30 days notice to artists to remove a particular piece of artwork. Art may or may not be on wall when artist picks up his/her work. After 30 days the artwork will be stored at no charge for another 30 days. Thereafter there will be a storage charge.
- Waiver of all Brooklyn Lyceum liability for the artwork. Sorry about this. The Brooklyn Lyceum is a theater, gym and cafe. With such a varied amount of activity it is not possible to insure all pieces of artwork.
-
Brooklyn Lyceum Groundrules:
- Continuous marketing via press releases, events, email, on-line advertising, etc.
- Online catalog will be created and versioned pdf made available to the general public.
- Record of art displayed and sold will be kept online.
- Payment to the artist will be within 30 days of sale of artwork.
