2009 Invasion

Its all about Brooklyn.  This summer the Invasion will jump into the New York Arts scene.  With a core location at the Brooklyn Lyceum there will be a flurry of enaging, exciting, invigorating, refreshing work.  

No tiny hole in the wall here.  What can you do with:

• Marley dance floor 32' wide and 24' deep
• Stage size up to 48' wide by 32' deep
• Balcony
• 20' ceilings
• 25' projection screen
• Seating for up to 200
• Easy rigging for aerial work
• Easy subway access

And thats just one of three spaces.  Yes, we have a smaller one for those more intimate acts.

We want it all, be it theater, music, dance, comedy, film or kids events.  This iron will strike hot.   And given the recession, more folks will hang in the boro during the dog days of August.  Thats just more audience for you.

Brooklyn is often seen as the second boro in New York City.  Not quite the best.  Its about time some love was showered upon those who didnt make the cut somewhere else.   Brooklyn understands.  We think the world will be surprised, no amazed, by the caliber of what they missed.

We are Seeking productions rejected from any festival, anywhere.

The current list of festivals that have rejected our applicants is:

• The New York International Fringe Festival

• The CMJ music festival
• The New York Musical Theater Festival
• The Tribeca Film Festival

We will add to this list as it grows.

Things you need to know:

• Applications reviewed by our team of a reviewers.
• Application fee is $50 with a rejection letter of that piece from any festival.  
• Split for all productions is 75% house/ 25% performer.
• All productions must submit proof of rights to perform copywritten material.
• You will be given a certain number of performance slots over 11 days.
• You are responsible for casting and directing the show.  We do marketing, front of house and provide the venue.

Festival Provides:

• Rehearsals (1 three hour block)
• Tech Time for 1 run through
• A minimum number of performance/screenings over 11 days:
• Theater - 4
• Dance - 4
• Kids events - 2
• Film - 2
• Comedy  - 2
• Marketing
• Your event will be marketed in our brochure to be distributed around Brooklyn.
• Your event will be listed on the Brooklyn Lyceum website
• Your event wll be advertised at the Brookyn Lyceum
• The Invasion will be promoted by banners on the Brooklyn Lyceum
• Advance sale tickets will be available via the Brooklyn Lyceum website
• A combined press package will be sent to various media outlets.
• Possible post-festival mounted production.

• If your event warrants it, another run/screening can be scheduled at the Brooklyn Lyceum
• House lights

• 26 lights on 13 channels in 1st room
• 16 lights on 8 channels for 2nd room
• 6 lights on 3 channels for 3rd room

• This will include two specials for your show
• House sound

• PA 
• Microphones
